Preschool / VPK
Traditional VPK Option
Our Traditional VPK program offers the state-funded Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program (VPK), a high-quality, no-cost option for eligible 4-year-olds. According to the Florida Department of Education, the VPK program is designed to prepare young children for kindergarten by focusing on early literacy, early math, language, and social-skills development in a developmentally appropriate setting.
At Collage Day School, children in our Traditional VPK track benefit from:
- A curriculum aligned with state early learning standards and delivered by experienced instructors.
- A classroom culture that blends structured early-learning activities with exploration, play and social interaction.
- Seamless transition into our regular early learning and daycare environment, giving your child continuity, consistency, and warm familiarity.
- This pathway is ideal for children who meet the standard VPK eligibility (4 years old on or before September 1 of the school year) and whose families wish to take advantage of the voucher program within our nurturing Collage environment.
Primary Prep: A Gifted-Style Enriched Route
Our Primary Prep program, rooted in a kindergarten curriculum and tailored with suitable accommodations for children aged 4 and 5, is designed to enrich your child’s academic journey. It aims to cultivate a comprehensive range of social and emotional skills.
With access to our Project-Based Learning model, progress monitoring using MAP, IXL, and IRLA assessments, and guidance from a qualified instructor, this program offers a nurturing environment to adequately prepare your child for future academic success beyond the traditional VPK program.
By exposing these young learners to academic challenges, novel social situations, and guided play, Collage gives your child a chance to begin developing their strengths from an early age, and to bolster confidence in any areas in need of development. Students leaving our Primary Prep class become kindergarten and first grade leaders, with strong foundational skills as communicators, problem solvers, and friends.
Teachers in our Primary Prep Class:
- Build individual relationships with children to provide help, guidance, challenges, and support
- Develop children’s confidence in themselves as students, friends, and individual creators
- Polish children’s classroom-readiness skills to foster independence and pride
- Nurture emotional growth while coaching up children’s innate gifts and talents

Franchise Schools
Standardized Curriculum
Franchise schools often adhere to a rigid, one-size-fits-all curriculum mandated by the franchise. This limits flexibility to tailor programs to student needs.
Profit-Driven Goals
Franchise schools may prioritize profitability, which can result in cost-cutting that affect teacher salaries, resources, or extracurricular activities
Limited Autonomy for Leadership
School directors and staff in a franchise model may have limited decision-making power, as corporate policies and procedures dictate operations.
Limited Community Involvement
Franchise schools may not have the flexibility or initiative to engage with the local community through events, partnerships, or philanthropy.
Upfront / Ongoing Franchise Fees
Franchise schools allocate significant funds toward franchise fees and royalties, which could otherwise be invested in students, teachers, and families.
Academics & Curriculum
Collage's Track System
Collage’s “Track System” allows our educators to work with students and families to ensure your child is placed into their ideal academic environment. Through objective measures and continual assessments, Collage programs specific learning targets into each child’s track, allowing students to receive a truly individualized education.
For example, students who benefit from emotional or behavioral support are placed in a learning environment enriched with guidance, paced academics, and structured social development. Likewise, students ready to independently access rigorous classwork (above their chronological age) are given the opportunity in our “Walk to Learn” program.

What is the Admissions Process at Collage Day School?
Families who are interested in applying to our program should begin the process as early as possible. Collage Day School offers a rolling admissions process and will offer open positions until each program is full for the school year.
Step 1: Inquire & Visit
We invite you to tour our campus so that you will have a personal connection to Collage’s teachers, curriculum and learning environment. We often find that your experience on a tour will help tell our story better than any other form of communication.
During your initial visit, our Head of Admissions will talk with you about your child and your expectations. This informal discussion allows us to understand more about your family, your own educational philosophies and your child’s needs, unique abilities, and personality.
You can schedule a tour online, or call our office for assistance. Please note that all prospective families are required to tour our campus prior to applying. Both virtual and onsite tours are available.
Step 2: Apply
Once you have decided that Collage is a good fit for your family, our being able to offer you a space depends upon our current availability and your preferred start date.
Our Infant programs are typically full and we maintain a waiting list. Enrollment priority is given to currently enrolled families seeking placement for another child.
Step 3: Enrollment
We will reach out to you when a space becomes available or once re-enrollment season ends for our current families.
If you choose to accept placement, you will be required to pay both an Application Fee and an Enrollment Fee. All enrollment is online via our FACTS Portal.
Step 4: First Day
Prior to your student’s first day, you will have the opportunity to schedule a “Meet The Teacher” Session where you will have the opportunity to introduce yourself to your child’s teacher.
In addition, the teacher will review the daily schedule, provide you with a supply list, and answer any questions you have related to classroom expectations and procedures.

About the Florida VPK Voucher
The Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program is a state-funded program that provides free prekindergarten for all 4-year-olds who live in Florida, regardless of family income. The goal is to prepare children for kindergarten and build a strong foundation for future learning through hands-on, age-appropriate experiences.
Families who wish to participate in the Traditional VPK option at Collage Day School must obtain a VPK voucher through the state.
Please note: the VPK voucher cannot be applied to the Collage Primary Prep program, which is a private, gifted-style early learning track designed for students who are academically advanced.
Dress Code Policy
Students enrolled in VPK and Primary Prep at Collage Day School follow a unified dress code beginning at age 3. A consistent and polished appearance helps create a positive, focused learning environment and fosters a sense of school pride and belonging from an early age.
All approved school uniform items for VPK and Primary Prep can be conveniently ordered through Lands’ End. Please note that Lands’ End (online) is currently the only approved vendor for Collage uniforms, and orders may take 6–8 weeks to ship, so we encourage families to plan ahead.
When shopping, be sure to visit Collage Day School’s official Lands’ End store to ensure your selections meet dress code standards.
