Kim Tidwell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of North Florida, where she graduated with high honors. She has over 30 years of experience teaching in elementary schools in classrooms from first through fifth grades. Kim received her ESOL Endorsement in 2006; and in 2007, she earned her National Board Certification in Early & Middle Childhood Literacy.  In 2008, she received her Gifted Endorsement. She was a model literacy teacher and a literacy lead teacher with Duval County Public Schools.  Twice, she was nominated Teacher of the Year by her colleagues.

Kim’s teaching philosophy is “Children Learn by Doing”; therefore, she strives to create rich learning experiences for her students through Readers and Writers Workshop, Learning Centers, Reader’s Theater, Integrated Thematic Units of Instruction, Project Based Learning, STEAM, and by interjecting rigor through thinking, problem solving and active learning.  She utilizes her observations and data and to determine children’s strengths and weaknesses and to plan learning experiences to propel them forward.

Kim and her husband, Dale, live in Nocatee with their Shih Tzu, Oliver and their cat, Magnolia.  Together, they have six adult children and two grandchildren.  She enjoys traveling, reading, gardening, spending time with her family, and serving in her church.
