Jessica Coats earned a BA in Science and English from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. There, she studied communication sciences and disorders, which quickly became a passion for her and introduced her to the field of special education. Prior to working as a general education teacher in St. Johns and Duval counties, Jessica worked as a preschool teacher, reading intervention tutor, as well as an after-school attendant for The ARC of St. Johns. She has also worked as a teacher and behavior therapist at a private school. Her dream is to become a speech language pathologist, and she aims to begin her master’s program in this area in the coming years. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two children, doing yoga, writing, hiking, kayaking and volunteering.
