Weekly Newsletter
Week of Aug 28, 2020

Thank you to all of our families who attended the Parent Advisory Committee Meeting (PAC) this week. Two different sessions will be offered in September to allow more families to attend. We look forward to partnering with you this school year to strengthen Collage Day School and further our community. Notes from the meeting have been included below for all families.

Our teachers continue to build relationships with our students. Instruction is alive in our preschool program thanks to our new curriculum called

Learning without Tears. Students have been learning about “Mat Man” and participating in meaningful instruction that follows the progressional development of preschool students. We look forward to watching our preschool students grow this school year!

Prekindergarten teachers finished evaluating our students using assessments from the State of Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten Program. Teachers can now work with the administration to disaggregate the data to provide prescriptive education for students. Students will continue with Singapore Math and Explode The Code to supplement core reading and math instruction.

It is wonderful to see the growth of our elementary program this school year. Teachers are solidifying rituals and routines in the classroom while also evaluating students to assist with the creation of individual student goals. We look forward to completing the Stanford Achievement Test-10 in the coming weeks to provide parents with detailed baseline results. Elementary Teachers love our new science curriculum, Science Alive, as it provides hands-on knowledge for students to enhance science concepts.

Aftercare Program

Did you know Collage Day School restructured the aftercare program? This year in aftercare, we are going to be exploring different themes each week. Every day will consist of outdoor play, a craft, group games, and more! This programming will allow our students to enhance their creativity and teamwork skills and provide time that encourages physical fitness. In the first week of September, we will be diving into the world of fairy tales with crafts and activities based on staples of the literary genre such as frog princes, castles, and dragons. We are so excited to care for your students this year!
